Showcase 500 Beaded Jewelry promises to be one of the fall’s most sought after gems. In this beautiful gallery book, nearly 300 bead artists present exquisite, innovative, and often fun and surprising works in bead weaving, embroidery, stringing, handmade beads, and more.

Color proofs of the book were sent to Publishers Weekly, the leading trade magazine for the book publishing industry, and here’s an excerpt from the very enthusiastic review that just released: “Opening this gorgeous hunk of a book is like walking into a high-end jewelry gallery. There are 500 full-color photographs of beaded jewelry — necklaces, rings, bracelets, pins and earrings — created by 275 artists with beads, wire, filament, and fiber. Some of the artists are well-known to beaders, like Carol Wilcox Wells and Diane Fitzgerald, and some not-so-well-known, with their work published for the first time. This makes for a heady blend of inspiration, ideas, and expression. Editor Hemachandra selected the 500 beaded objects from submissions by 360 artists from 30 countries. To his credit, no single style — bead weaving, bead embroidery, bead stringing — gets short shrift. The photography is of high professional standards, no Instagram shots by amateurs posted to Facebook, and is also instructively illustrative of the beadwork, offering closeup shots that will help the aspiring bead worker reproduce some of the techniques.” (You can read the full review — including two debatable criticisms! — online here.)

Our advance copies are in, and I’m going to give away one advance copy of the book signed by me. The winner will be the first person outside the company and book industry to see the book.

How can you enter for a chance to win? Leave a comment on this blog post by 9 p.m. EST on Wednesday, June 27. Any comment counts as an entry, but why don’t you let us know which bead designer inspires you the very most (tough question!). One winner will be selected at random and announced on Tuesday, July 5. Click here for the official rules.

The book is available for preorder at your local bead store or bookstore, or online at BN.com or Amazon.com (go over, take a look, and please give the book’s page a “Like”). Be sure to join Lark Jewelry & Beading on Facebook for book and community news, as well as images of beautiful jewelry. And good luck!

  • Wwilloww

WOW sounds like an incredibly inspiring book!!!  I would love to win a copy!!  It would be hard to pick an absolute favorite jewelry designer but Diane Fitzgerald, for her diversity, is an inspiration to me.  Also, I have to mention a “You Tube” star Kelly, owner of Off the Beaded Path in Forest City, NC.  She consistently inspires me to try new things not just because I like her designs but because she gives such CLEAR, easy to follow instructions!!!

  • Enchantedbeads

I cannot wait to have this wonderful book in my hands!

  • Patricia

Oh, I so want this book because I am positive it will be inspiring.  One of the “bead stars” that continues to inspire me is Jean Campbell.  So many of the bead masters seem to have a “specialty” that they are famous for although I know they have to master so much to get to that point in their work.    But what we end up seeing much of the time is more of the same. With Jean, you are continually amazed at how accomplished she is by the variety in her work.  One day its the Star of India necklace the next day its something totally at the other end of the spectrum.  She never fails to inspire me.  Patricia

  • MaryLou Holvenstot (time2cre8)

I’d love to win a copy of the book…  but even if I don’t win, this one will go onto my bookshelf as soon as it’s available.  I just know it’s going to be phenomenal!  :-)

This book would be a wonderful addition to my ever-growing beading library.
    Thank you for the giveaway.

  • Thescrappyjeweler

What a beautiful and inspiring book. There are so many people that inspire me its too hard to pick just one.

  • Cathy

Although each artist in this book deserves high accolades, my personal homage goes to Carol Wilcox Wells.  My introduction to beading could have gone so wrong, as all I had to go by was a needle, nymo thread, and her book.  Her projects, instructions and diagrams were so clear and easy to follow that I became inspired to continue on and learn more.  I owe my 8 years of beaded enjoyment to her.

  • http://www.niftycreations.com.au/ Neva Brown

This book will be full of inspirational pieces, by very talented artists. A great asset in any artisans library. I cant wait to add it to mine.

Problem is, several bead artists inspire me. I’ve followed Jean Power’s work since 2007, when she participated in CWJ’s Year Of Jewelry. I love Jill Wiseman’s work also! =) Oh how I could go on! =)

  • Lsoley

There are so many talented artists in this book, that I couldn’t pick one as I get inspired by all of them everytime I see new work from any of them.

This beautiful book will definitely be in my hands as soon as it is available, but if it were signed by you, it would be even more special to me. Thank you for the opportunity to receive an autographed copy! As far as choosing one artist from among the many talented people who contributed to this beautiful edition, can’t do it. It would be like asking me which of my children is my favorite. Nope, can’t do it. Each is special in their own individual way and I love them all. Keeping my fingers crossed (except when I’m creating) until the big day. Thanks again, cj

  • Ldarmes

Showcase 500 Beaded Jewelry for myself, I am hoping to win the signed book for my Military daughter serving overseas who has just enter into the world of beading. This publication would not only introduce her to many of the Master Beaders but also provide a treasure trove of attainable art through the use of different medias. I can’t wait to get my copy!!!

  • Sheryl Stephens

That is a tough question!  I am inspired by so many of the designers – each for their own reason, but IF I have to pick one- Sherry Seraphini.  After receiving her book, I really felt the need to branch out from bead weaving to bead embroidery – and the ideas are still flowing.  I hope to be featured in a Lark Book one day….either a compilation of artists, or even one of my own…..

We have a small shop in Kalamazoo called The Bead Shoppe, and that is the place where I discovered bead jewelry and how cool it was to make your own while I was way back in high school. I will always be grateful to the owners for their knowledge, patience, and availability. (Plus they teach bead classes for the city as well…how cool is that?)

I’d love to have this book, too!  Reading others posts has introduced me to artists I hadn’t heard of.  Love it!

  • Susan B

Love those colors. Looks like a great book for getting ideas & inspiration.

  • Daisyee12

What an inspiration.  A good one for my bead book library.

  • Shelley Graham Turner

My favorite bead artist is Marla Gibson (http://www.etsy.com/shop/spiceboxdesigns?ref=ss_profile) her work is beautiful…I have three pieces myself and I love them. I am sure I will purchase many more from her in the future.

  • Shaub3

I have a desire to make beaded jewelry.  I’m not sure I have the ability, but I would like to see those who do have this ability in this wonderful book.

  • JoAnne Salatrik

So many of the bead artists have inspired me to go further than I ever thought I would go. I plan to buy this to add to my beading library but winning a signed copy would be such a thrill.

    Thank you,
    JoAnne Salatrik

  • Hometown2000

Looks like a fabulous book to add to a growing beading library! I do enjoy Sharri Maroshok. Her beaded anemones are a favorite because I love sea creatures!

  • Catriona Starpins

Laura McCabe is my all time favorite as she constantly tests the boundaries of beading and I am always so inspired every time I see a new one of her designs. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this book!

  • Slb3334

    I would love this.

  • Terri Faye Richards

Wow this book has to full of beautiful beadwork. For me Sherry Serafini is my mentor. Her first book gave me inspiration and the skills to continue growing and that was in 2008 when I created my first bead embroidered collar. I’ve never stopped.

  • Maryanne

As far as I’m concerned, they’re all inspirational beaders … I can’t pick just one. :)

  • Cherry Chick

I’ve always found Laura McCabe’s work inspiring.

  • Cryss Thain

The pictures are awesome – the rest of the book has to be just as  fantastic.

  • Ameliametalwork

I’m looking forward to see this book, it is the most inspiring book for a passionate beader like me. One of my favorit artist is Arbumillia because of her skillful and unusual design, showing that beading can be a piece of the art.

  • Lily

Can’t wait to see which piece of Camille Simmon’s work is included.

  • Sharon Gorberg

Any book with the work of Stephanie Sersich is an immediate winner!

  • Janis Garich

My favorite beader is Jean Campbell because she is so diversified in that she designs with seed beading and wire.  And of course she is an editor, writer, mentor, teacher, friend and spiritual person.  i am lucky enough to belong to the Great Lakes Beadworkers Guild in Michigan so i have taken classes from many wonderful instructors and learned many fabulous techniques.  Honestly, there are too many talented artists to mention,  but i adore Marsha DeCoster, Jill Wiseman, Diane Fitsgerald, Margie Deeb, Beverly Gilbert,  and many more.  I am beading my way through a magic adventure!

  • Amy

Oh Boy!  A great summer read and inspiration!  Can’t wait.

Thank you Lark for this awesome give-away!

  • Lois Buhalis

I’m not sure where I would start in naming those who inspire me most. I think of Robin Atkins, Sherry Serafini, Laura McCabe… but there are so many more! I like to draw inspiration from literally everywhere, let it percolate for awhile, then put together a bead embroidery piece. Just looking at the pictured cover of this book is starting to make me think…

  • Robin

I’ve been the most inspired by Diane Fitzgerald but Sonoko Nuzue is coming up high on my list

  • Easypeasy264

Looks like a wonderful book. Thanks for the chance!

  • Dawn Thompson

My favorite designer would be Diane Fitzgerald.  I love her geometric shapes…but then again I like her flowers, too (and Zulu beadwork).  She has such a great variety of work!

  • Jeannine

My two personal favorite bead artists will always be Laura McCabe and Sherry Serafini. Of course there are hundreds of truly gifted bead artists, but I think of those two as the Bruce Springteens of beading. Their designs are poetry and rock n roll rolled into one. I have been awed by their talent, inspired in their classes, and surprised at their humility. Truly great ladies!

  • ModPodgeElder

Oh, boy, the most inspirational beaders would have to be Laura McCabe, Sheri Serafini, Margie Deeb, Emily Hackbarth,  Robin Atkins, Julia Pretl, Vicki Star, Gineke Root and of course, Deon DeLange

  • JAMES LYNAM

SHERRY SERAFINI is the very BEST.

  • Straybeads

Designers are like the beads they work with…there is no right or wrong bead, just a new and different vision of what to do with them!  How could I choose just one favorite?  I’m looking forward to seeing this book!

This would be an exciting addition to my library and to use in my classes. Good luck to me!

I think that the book “Masters Glass beads” is a very good book I bought two copies, one for Venezia and one for Tokyo where actually live. The only thing I wonder is why. in this book, there is only one Venetian glass bead maker and he is also not a typical Venetian beads maker. Is it possible that in Venezia with all the history and centuries of tradition in glass making there is not anyone else? Are we so lost?

  • Bogieandbeads
