The Girl with a Batucada Tattoo

After reading “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” I noticed how the the paperback cover design has only made the series more iconic. The strong graphic treatment makes me think of the main character’s bold tattoo and how powerful graphic design can be.

And although I don’t have a tattoo of my own (if I did- it would be the Orin from the cover of the Neverending Story book cover), I love the graphic elements of them. So how can someone who loves tattoos rock the strong look (don’t say temporary tattoos…) without committing? Book cover

Here’s the answer: Batucada tattoo jewelry. I had never heard of them before today, but it’s beautiful. They’re made from eco-friendly rubber material that’s durable, water-proof, sweat-proof, light-weight (it floats) and molds to your body. “Batucada” is a style of samba, and it’s named that because the Parisian designers of the jewelry were inspired by Brazilian beach culture.

Check out some of these designs:

If you want any of these pieces yourself, you can Google Batucada or go here. And of course, there’s Mehndi tattoos for a temporary tattoo look, too. Click here to check out my blog about Mehndi.

So what’s your favorite tattoo design?

I LOVE the one on the foot, the butterfly, and the one above the butterfly.  I’d wear any one of them!

As a fan of all things Brazilian, the word “batucada” definitely caught my eye (yes, a style of samba, particularly focusing on the percussion instruments and a highlight of Rio’s famous carnaval). These are really pretty, particularly the foot ornament. Not sure how much they remind me of Brazilian beach culture, but I like them very much, anyway! And they do look like tattoos somehow; they seem to fit right next to the body.
