This Dog’s Life with Ira G

From Asheville, North Carolina, it’s This Dog’s Life. I’m Ira G. Each FRIDAY, of course, I pick a theme and present a story around that theme.

To celebrate our Month of Hope, I thought I’d shine the spotlight on some of my pals in need of forever homes. These four come from Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, an amazing no-kill shelter here in Asheville. Check out their Facebook page. Since 2009, Brother Wolf has found homes for over 1,300 dogs and cats.

If you recall, I was once a shelter dog too (see This Dog’s Life 2 and 3 for more on that) and so I have a soft spot in my heart for all the animals out there looking for a good home. To all the humans who’ve rescued animals: You rock. And to all my shelter buddies out there, keep your chin up. It’s thanks to places like Brother Wolf that we can all have a little more hope in our lives.

I am the 'auntie' of a rescued English Cocker Spaniel, and I can testify that his life was immeasurably enriched and transformed when his human mummy gave him a 'forever home.' He behaved like an automaton when he first came to his new home. Now, he is a happy, engaged, chipper dog.
