Halloween how-to: FAKE BLOOD

What is Halloween without some blood to splatter around? Not fun, that’s what! Well, actually it would still be fun, just not as gory. But where do you get blood? Well, you could raid the local hospital or blood banks, but we don’t recommend that. And real blood can get gross and smelly anyway. Fake blood is where it’s at! Now, you could just go out and buy it at one of the many Halloween stores that pop up this time of year, they even have gallon jugs of the stuff. But it’s more fun to make your own!
Let’s make some fake blood! Mwahahahahahahahaha!!!
There are lots of recipes out there for making your own fake blood, but we’ll just go with the tried and true recipe I’ve used before. All you need is light corn syrup, red food dye, and cocoa powder. And no measuring is required, it’s all to your liking. Just combine, stir, and splatter!
Gather your materials: light corn syrup, red food dye, cocoa powder, spoon, and a container to mix your fake blood in. Halloween decorations are optional, but fun.
Pour the light corn syrup and some red food dye into your container.
Stir together, adding more red food dye until the darkness of the red is to your liking.
Now add some cocoa powder to the mix. This will make it more opaque like real blood.
Stir in the cocoa powder, adding more until you are satisfied.
Now you have fake blood! Start splattering!
BEWARE: Making fake blood is messy, so have paper towels and cleaning supplies at the ready. Also, this stuff will likely stain anything it comes into contact with, including skin and clothes.
